Meet Deb - a driving force behind the Spruce team and a go-to expert for simplifying complex challenges surrounding title and closing. Deb brings a fresh perspective to Spruce - embracing flexibility and alternative approaches to the overall customer experience. Behind the scenes, Deb ensures smooth operations and tech-empowered services so that every individual sees nothing but a quick, clear-to-close process. Out of the office, you’ll see Deb unleashing the same tenacity on the field, playing a round of  baseball with the kids. 

What is one thing you'd like people to know about you?

I'm an honest person.

What is your career super power?

I consider my career superpowers to be that I'm passionate, dedicated, and committed to company goals. I get excited about simplifying the complicated – and in real estate, there are no shortage of opportunities to flex that muscle. I also lead by educating my team, and empower them to make decisions and execute.

Favorite thing you look forward to at the end of your day?

Playing a round of baseball with my kids!

Describe your experience at Spruce in 3 words or less

Invigorating, innovating and exhausting. 

How is Spruce making an impact on title and closing services?

At Spruce - we embrace flexibility and support alternative transactional models. By adapting to different approaches, we can cater to a wide range of clients under various segments and meet their specific needs - whenever possible. 

How does your role directly impact the customer experience?

I'm always behind the scenes (which involves two main factors):

1.I focus on innovation and creating automation and efficiencies that deliver state of the art title products to customers - fast and effectively.

2. I’m always making strategic business decisions to get deals closed instead of canceled - ensuring a smooth and satisfactory experience for customers throughout the transaction process. 

What Spruce value resonates with you the most?

Diversity - I've been discriminated against before in my career. Spruce's value of diversity is not just a word on a list.

How has your career grown since starting at Spruce?

I’ve learned how to navigate a true grassroots startup (especially coming from a traditional title and closing background). There are both similarities and differences, but helping to build an offering from the ground up ultimately allows us to better serve our clients.

How do you feel connected while working remotely with teammates?

Making sure that your camera is on during every Google Meet. Seeing everyone's faces helps a lot - I think connection goes beyond text or voice communication. With the camera on you can pick up non-verbal cues, foster collaboration and maintain unity - even while physically separated. 

What motivates you? 

It’s simple - to do the best I can do everyday for our company, our clients and our staff.

Who are some of your biggest inspirations within the company?

Lisa Robertson - she's amazing at finding multiple perspectives when communicating with our clients. Empathy, effective listening and navigating diverse perspectives ensures the delivery of exceptional service. 

What’s one thing that you want our customers to know about Spruce?

We are always willing to explore multiple options and unconventional methods to ensure deals are executed. Every transaction is unique - thinking outside of the norm allows us to adapt and innovate in order to meet our customers needs.
