For this month’s Employee Spotlight, we met with Abby Larsen to discuss her leading the Client Success team at Spruce. Abby has been a part of our team for three years, making sure our partners—whether recently onboarded or in a long-term relationship with Spruce—have a seamless, headache-free experience.

What is the best advice you've ever received?

The best advice I’ve received is that - in most cases - “Done is better than perfect.” This is the slightly more tactical version of “don’t let perfect be the enemy of good.” It’s a powerful antidote to analysis paralysis, and choosing to heed this advice helps me bridge plans and action. Perhaps, most importantly, it’s a great reminder to celebrate progress, which can be hard to do, particularly in a fast-paced environment.

Favorite thing you look forward to at the end of your day?

Taking my dog for a walk!! Fur real, though, having a four-legged companion while working from home is something I’m so grateful for (despite the occasional noise pollution she creates on Zoom)!

How does your role directly impact the customer experience?

Client Success Managers are a core component of the Spruce client experience, collaborating with our clients on everything from onboarding to integrations and market expansions to reporting customizations. Building relationships with our clients helps us enable them to maximize the value they get from working with Spruce.

What is your favorite thing about working at Spruce?

What makes Spruce a great place to work is that we’re solving real problems, with incredible people. It is such a privilege to work with smart people you admire in any forum, but especially when you’re able to collaborate on a problem as endlessly complex and nuanced as modernizing the title industry. Even three years in - I am constantly learning from my talented colleagues and building my expertise working so closely alongside our clients. This combination keeps me engaged.

What motivates you? (favorite quote, best advice, even your favorite caffeinated beverage)

Feedback! Positive, constructive, or otherwise - feedback is a gift that helps us (individuals, teams, and Spruce) grow, and I’m always appreciative when people take the time to thoughtfully share it.
